Customized Transgenic / Genetically Modified Research Models
Customized genetically modified (transgenic) models heavily impact the scientific value of your studies, as the models are designed to specifically address your scientific questions while avoiding the unrevealed caveats possible in genetically modified models.
Models at genOway:
- Genetically modified mice, rats and cell lines
- Gene Knockout, Knockin, point mutation and humanization
- Inducible and constitutive expression
Technologies we use:
- Homologous recombination (HR) and nuclease-based gene editing (e.g. CRISPR/Cas9)
- Site-specific recombination (SSR), including RMCE, FLEx, and Cre-ERt2
- Tetracycline-based systems (e.g., Tet-On/Off)
- Internal ribosome entry site (IRES)
Intellectual property:
We own licenses on all technlogies used to develop your model. This provides you the freedom to operate on your model, and allows you to retain ownership and patent it. (License your model.)

Customized mouse models
Follow the links to navigate to customized mouse models we can develop for you.*
Knockout mouse model | |
Constitutive KO Permanent inactivation of the target gene, and total absence of the protein in the whole animal, in every cell of the organism |
|
Conditional KO | |
Tissue-specific KO Gene of interest is inactivated in specific cell types in a certain tissue |
Inducible KO Gene of interest can be temporally controlled at a given time-point in embryonic, post-natal or adult animals |
Functional KO One or more mutated nucleotides causing loss of function of a given protein |
Knockin mouse model | |
Constitutive KI Add a gene sequence of interest to an endogenous locus |
|
Quick KI Controlled gene expression by targeting permissive loci Rosa26 or Hprt |
|
Point mutation KI One or more constitutively mutated nucleotides affecting the function of a given protein (gain/loss of function) |
|
Reporter KI With inserted fluorescent, bioluminescent proteins or biochemical tags |
|
Humanization KI Substitute a mouse gene sequence with the human counterpart |
|
* In addition, we are running, in collaboration with customers, several R&D programs for other than the above mouse model developments. If you are interested in joining such a program, please reach out to us.
