ATF4 is a transcription factor activated under cellular stress conditions, including amino acid deprivation and endoplasmic reticulum stress. It regulates genes involved in metabolism, stress adaptation, and apoptosis across multiple tissues. The Atf4-CreERT2 mouse line enables inducible, temporal control of genetic recombination in Atf4-expressing cells following tamoxifen administration. This model is suitable for studying stress response pathways, metabolism, and cellular adaptation mechanisms.
