MYO1A encodes a class I myosin predominantly expressed in the brush border of intestinal epithelial cells, where it plays a key role in maintaining microvillar structure and epithelial function. Its expression is highly specific to enterocytes of the small intestine. The Myo1a-CreERT2 mouse line enables inducible, temporal control of genetic recombination in Myo1a-expressing intestinal epithelial cells following tamoxifen administration. This model is particularly suited for studying intestinal biology, epithelial function, and gut homeostasis.
