SPINK8 is a serine protease inhibitor with expression reported in epithelial tissues, where it contributes to regulation of protease activity and tissue homeostasis. Protease inhibitors such as SPINK8 play roles in maintaining epithelial integrity and local signaling environments. The Spink8-CreERT2 mouse line enables inducible, temporal control of genetic recombination in Spink8-expressing epithelial cells following tamoxifen administration. This model is suitable for conditional gene function studies, lineage tracing, and investigation of epithelial biology and tissue homeostasis.
