Research summary

This study examines the impact of PCPE-1 deficiency on cardiac collagen content and heart function under basal conditions using PCPE-1 Knockout mice.

Key outcome of the study

PCPE-1 deficiency did not significantly alter cardiac collagen content or function under normal conditions. A slight decrease in ejection fraction was observed in male Knockout mice, with no major change in wound healing or collagen-related gene expression.

Model

PCPE-1 Knockout mouse model developed by genOway, based on embryonic stem cells obtained from the EUCOMM repository, allowing targeted inactivation of the Pcolce gene.

TARGET:
Pcolce
